MPD Operation Targets Gang Activity Near Downtown Memphis – Local, sports, business and food news in Memphis

A law enforcement operation targeting gang activity at an intersection south of downtown Memphis has led to multiple felony arrests.

The Memphis Police Department and local, state and federal partner agencies announced on Tuesday, June 11, that on Thursday, June 6, they made 12 arrests as part of Operation Code Zero.

Since then, most of the suspects have posted bail for the charges against them and have been released from prison.

Operation All Off Boyd was named after the arrests of All Off the Blade gang members who often congregate on Boyd Street and Tate Avenue.

MPD interim Chief C.J. Davis called the area, located near two churches, a “hub” for gathering, planning and engaging in gang activity.

“This place is a neighborhood where community members have suffered for many years, been held hostage in their homes for fear of gun violence, and some have themselves been victims of various crimes throughout the city of Memphis,” Davis said.
