Security guard arrested for road rage on I-94 in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) – A security guard is in custody after an alleged incident Tuesday on I-94 in Detroit.

Michigan State Police received a call Tuesday from a driver who said someone flashed a gun at him on the highway.

Investigators say the incident occurred as both drivers attempted to enter westbound I-94 from Chalmers Avenue on the city’s east side.

According to MSP, the suspect eventually pulled alongside the victim and brandished a gun before driving away.

The victims managed to record the suspect’s license plate and tell police that the car belonged to a private security company. According to the victims, the suspect was also wearing a security guard’s uniform.

The police contacted the owner of the security company, who cooperated with investigators. Authorities did not disclose the name of the security company.

Eventually, police arrested the suspect, a 22-year-old man from Detroit, and seized two guns.

“Driving a car is not a competition. There is absolutely no reason to consider a minor road accident a crime. It’s just driving, so just be nice to other drivers and we’ll all be better for it,” said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw via X, formerly Twitter.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, remains held at the Detroit Detention Center pending review by a prosecutor.
