The Seattle Seahawks will have two practices with the Tennessee Titans in Nashville before the preseason matchup between the two teams in August.

The Seahawks will practice with the Titans on August 14-15 at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park, then play their second preseason game on August 17 at Nissan Stadium before returning to Seattle.

It’s another sign of changing times for the Seahawks under new head coach Mike Macdonald. Working together is something the team has never done in Pete Carroll’s 14 years at the helm of the program.

“I think we control training better this way,” Carroll said last August. “Look how hard we competed the other day. Moreover, we value pre-season matches. We use pre-season games. I’ve done this before, but we feel like we can focus and stay in the middle of the things we need to do.

“Several teams have been asked about this over the years. I think they know we don’t do that, so we don’t get much. I don’t want to travel and stay with someone else for a while. For me this is crazy. We are always open to it. We talk about it. It’s not like we have a closed opinion about it.

Titans head coach Brian Callahan told reporters Tuesday that they had reached out to the entire league about holding joint workouts with Seattle, and Macdonald agreed with the idea.

“I’m excited about it. It’s a great job. I love training together. We have two days of really good work ahead of us against Seattle… It’s great. I’m looking forward to it,” Callahan said.

The Seahawks’ plan is to practice Monday and Tuesday in Seattle after their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, August 10. They will fly to Tennessee on Tuesday night and practice with the Titans for the next two days. Friday will be typical for them

“It’s interesting,” outside linebacker Boye Mafe said. “I have never trained together in my career, so this will be my first training together. I’m excited. You know, a new chance. We’ll see how it goes and, you know, honestly, go to Tennessee and practice with them for a few days.

Although the two teams had different head coaches, the two teams met last December in Nashville and the Seahawks came away with a 20-17 victory.
