The first results of the York County sheriff election are due Tuesday

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina’s statewide primary elections are Tuesday, and there’s one race that Charlotte-area residents are closely watching – the York County sheriff’s race.

In November, Republican Sheriff Kevin Tolson withdrew from the race. Candidates vying for the vacant position include Tolson’s wife, Beth, and four other Republicans, all with law enforcement experience: Michael Belk, Chris Blevins, Tony Breeden and Heath Clevenger.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. WCNC Charlotte will hear the election results Tuesday night.
