The Austin Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated hosts the 49th Southwest Regional Conference

An exciting event will take place in Austin on June 13-16 that will bring together Delta Sigma Theta Sorority members from various regions for the 49th Southwest Regional Conference. Robin T. Blackmon, president of the association’s Austin Alumni Chapter, joined Studio 512 to talk more about the organization.

Robin says, “The vibrant city of Austin will be painted red during the 49th Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Southwest Regional Conference. meeting on June 13-16. This major event will bring together over 3,000 members from the sorority’s extensive network, reflecting this year’s theme, “One Mission, One Love,” which focuses on the sorority’s core of sisterhood, service and scholarship.


“The Austin Alumnae Department, alongside the collegiate chapters at The University of Texas (Epsilon Beta) and Houston-Tillotson University (Alpha Kappa), is honored to host this significant gathering. The conference will serve as a platform to conduct key business, support communities and engage in impactful social activities.

“One of our key service projects is collecting donations for St. Louise House, an organization supporting single mothers and their children. Additionally, participants will participate in creating blankets for love to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Williamson County. This initiative is key to raising awareness of child abuse and promoting preventive measures.

“The highlight of the conference is the Public Meeting at 6:00 PM on Thursday evening, an event open to the community showcasing the tremendous contributions of Delta Sigma Theta in Austin and the surrounding area. During this meeting, newly appointed Austin City Manager TC Broadnax will address the audience, sharing his vision and recognizing the association’s community service efforts. Attendees and the general public will also be able to purchase Greek accessories, perfect for gifts or personal souvenirs.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has long been involved in social work, educational development and civic engagement. The Austin Alumni Chapter, along with its collegiate chapters, continues to uphold these values ​​by making significant contributions to the community.”
