Seattle Mariners have been scratching Bryan Woo since Tuesday’s start; Here’s what manager Scott Serv

Update, 3:30 p.m. PT: Manager Scott Servais spoke to reporters Tuesday afternoon and indicated that the team would know more about Woo’s status in a day or so. They hope to stay off the injured list but don’t know the extent of the situation yet.

15:00 Polish time: The Seattle Mariners have hurt starting pitcher Bryan Woo with shoulder discomfort since Tuesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports that Woo is undergoing an MRI and the team is waiting for the results.

The team has selected veteran lefty Jhonathan Diaz to be his replacement when he returns from Triple-A Tacoma. In other lineup changes, the team designated Kirby Snead for assignment and did the same with Matt Bowman. They also called up Eduardo Bazardo again.

The situation with Woo is concerning as he has had shoulder problems in the past. While at Cal Poly, he underwent Tommy John surgery and was placed on the injured list with inflammation last season and again earlier this season.

When he pitched, he was extremely effective, posting an ERA of 1.07 in six starts. This is the lowest ERA in team history through the first six starts of the season.

As for Diaz, the 27-year-old is 7-1 this season at Triple-A Tacoma with an ERA of 2.98. He appeared in three different seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, posting a career record of 2-1 in 11 games. His major league ERA is 4.84.

The Mariners play the White Sox at 6:40 PM PT.
