OSU Baseball adds relief pitcher from Jacksonville to the transfer portal

OSU Baseball adds relief pitcher from Jacksonville to the transfer portal

Oklahoma State has its first transfer of the offseason.

Jacksonville University transfer Tommy Allman announced via social media on Monday that he has committed to OSU. As a relief pitcher, Allen has been with Jacksonville since the 2022 season and has been an increasing part of the team over the past two seasons.

Allman’s commitment comes shortly after OSU’s disappointing early exit from the NCAA Tournament. After winning its first two games and advancing to the regional finals, OSU lost its next matchup against Florida and ended its season.

While pitching hasn’t been a significant issue for the Cowboys in the postseason, adding talent on the mound is always a good idea. Entering his fourth season, Allman offers the Cowboys some experience.

In 2024, Allman had his most productive college season, throwing 46.1 innings. He allowed 50 hits, 26 runs scored and walked 26 batters while throwing 52 strikeouts. Starting four games in Jacksonville, Allman also had a 1-3 record.

This season, Allman also posted a career-best batting average of .278. Allman’s career-best ERA of 5.95 also came in 2024.

In 2023, Allman had an ERA of 6.44, making 18 appearances and pitching 29.1 innings. With 37 hits and 16 walks compared to 27 strikeouts, Allman has already made impressive progress in his sophomore campaign.

With a third straight victory at the Stillwater Regional, OSU looks to strengthen the team and claim the Super Regional title for the first time since 2019, as well as the College World Series for only the second time in Josh Holliday’s tenure. If the Cowboys can add more talent like Allman to the transfer portal over the next few months, OSU will be able to secure a postseason appearance in 2025.
