Colorado native Christian McCaffrey is on the cover of Madden

By meerna Jun12,2024

Christian McCaffrey grew up in the suburbs of Denver as the son of the famous Denver Broncos wide receiver, and the former Valor Christian High School player will forever hold his place in sports video game history.

Madden announced on Tuesday that McCaffrey will be the cover player for their upcoming game this fall. McCaffrey becomes the first running back to appear on the cover of the game since Adrian Peterson and Barry Sanders appeared on separate covers of Madden NFL 25 in 2013. Ironically, this is another running back on the cover of Madden NFL 25:

The reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year and 2023 rushing champion had a career-best 1,459 rushing yards with 14 rushing touchdowns, adding 67 catches for 564 yards and seven scoring touchdowns for the San Francisco 49ers, who represented the NFC in the Super Bowl .

McCaffrey’s big year recently earned him a big payday and a contract extension, but the most enjoyable part of his summer is probably becoming the face of Madden.

β€œIt’s really humbling,” McCaffrey told ESPN. β€œI feel really grateful because obviously things like that are a testament to my teammates and my coaches and the people that helped me be successful, so I’m really grateful for that. It’s a really cool milestone for me to be on the cover, I think about the people who have helped me along the way, and being the first 49ers player is really humbling when you think about how many great players the organization has played for it. I definitely feel very happy.”

McCaffrey also uses Madden for his Logan Bowl charity project, in which NFL players compete against each other in video game matches to raise money for sick children in hospitals to purchase video game equipment.

Christian McCaffrey is the son of Ed McCaffrey, who played for the Broncos for nine seasons and won two Super Bowls. Christian hasn’t won a big game yet, but he’s had an incredible career.
