According to Zanotta, who also wants Luccin to explore the club’s path from the academy to the first team more than his predecessor, additional investments will be made in the upcoming second transfer window (which starts on July 18).

“We believe we have young players who can develop and haven’t had many opportunities. They can get a chance now,” he said. “Every time you make a change, you change the coach and some players who aren’t getting minutes feel like this change could be an opportunity for them. They will make progress.”

Hunt echoed this sentiment, suggesting that the club’s famed youth system could soon produce future stars in the footsteps of famous USMNT alumni and current regulars such as Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Chris Richards and Ferreira.

“I think we have a lot of talent here,” Hunt said. “I’m excited about the players behind the (MLS NEXT Pro site) North Texas (SC) team and the success they’ve had, as well as the players in our youth system. I now believe we have generations of talented players coming back through the club.”

However, in the short term, it is up to the current players to put things right and get something out of the 2024 FC Dallas season.

“Overall, we felt that the locker room understood our decision and was ready to respond,” Zanotta said. “Everyone knows we have to do more.

“…We all believe in this club that we should be in a better situation than we are now. They are ready to get to work and start a new chapter.”
