Tiger Martin earns preseason All-America Honors from Phil Steele

On Tuesday, the university announced that University of Memphis linebacker Chandler Martin has been named to Phil Steele’s fourth preseason team for the 2024 All-American season.

This followed an “exceptional 2023 campaign” that saw 14 other Tigers named to the publication’s preseason All-AAC team.

Martin led Memphis with 95 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles last season. The university said it also added two interceptions, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery on the year. He reportedly finished 17th in the NCAA in tackles for a loss and 18th in solo tackles (5.1).

Along with Martin, quarterback Seth Henigan, wide receiver Roc Taylor, offensive lineman Xavier Hill (OG) and running back Sutton Smith (KR) were named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-AAC team.
