Tickets, events, what’s worth knowing

DENVER (KDVR) — Hear, hear, the Colorado Renaissance Festival returns to Larkspur on June 15.

Prepare to travel back to the 16th century and experience the English Renaissance over eight weekends this summer. Starting Saturday, the Colorado Renaissance Festival will run until August 8.


From food and drink to costumes to live entertainment, the Renaissance Festival is sure to be medieval fun. Here you will find everything you need to know about participating in the festival.

How to get tickets

Tickets for the festival can be purchased in three ways.

The cheapest option will be King Soopers. Single-day tickets can be purchased at participating locations for $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12.

Single-day online tickets cost $26.50 for adults and $11 for children. Tickets can be purchased online on the Renaissance festival website.

If you choose to purchase tickets upon arrival in Larkspur, tickets will cost $28 for adults and $12 for children at the box office.

Location and parking

The Colorado Renaissance Festival will only be open Saturday and Sunday at 650 Perry Park Ave. in Larkspur. The festival will take place regardless of the weather.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the festival can be accessed via Spruce Mountain Road to Perry Park Avenue or Interstate 25. Bear Dance Drive south of Tomah Road will be closed during the weekend, except for tee-time golfers.

Parking is free.

What is and what is not allowed

Be sure to follow the following rules to be able to enter the village:

  • No outside food or drinks except a factory-sealed water bottle.
  • Refrigerators are prohibited.
  • T-shirts and shoes are required.
  • Full face masks are prohibited.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Costumes are allowed and encouraged.
  • Costume swords and daggers are permitted if properly sheathed. Persons wearing costumes must contact security prior to entry.
  • Food and drinks can only be purchased with cash.

Theme weekends

During each of the eight weekends, the Renaissance Festival will have a different theme.

June 15-16: Magical fantasy weekend

Grab your fairy’s wings, this weekend is dedicated to fantastic creatures. At noon, take part in a costume contest on the Rose Stage or meet a mermaid; all magical inhabitants are welcome.

According to the festival, this weekend is also a weekend of appreciation for first responders. You will be able to buy one get one free adult ticket for all fire, police and sheriff personnel. Children of first responders under the age of 12 will also be admitted free of charge.

June 22-23: Beer and Art Festival, Military Appreciation Weekend

This weekend will be dedicated to art and beer. According to the festival, there will be a free beer tasting for all adults.

Service members will also be honored this weekend. Festival organizers said all active-duty and active-duty military members can purchase a buy-one-get-one adult ticket at the box office. Children under 12 years of age enter free of charge upon presentation of military ID.

June 29-30: Celtic weekend

This weekend, the festival will be filled with Scottish pipe bands and madrigal singers. The festival organizers announced that guests will be able to enjoy performances by an Irish troubadour and the Pikes Peak highlanders.

There will also be a “Men in Kilts” competition.

July 6-7: Children’s weekend

Calling all boys and girls, this weekend is for you.

The festival stated that all children under 12 years of age can experience Renaissance culture for free with an adult admission ticket. There will also be prince, princess and pirate costume competitions, knighting ceremonies and photos with the king and queen.

July 13–14: Pirate invasion weekend

This weekend belongs to pirates and archers.

Children can join the captain’s crew at the main gate and look for treasures. The festival organizers announced that there will also be a costume competition.

July 20-21: Weekend of wine and revelry

If you’re a wine lover, you’ll want to attend the Renaissance Festival this weekend.

The festival will include the legendary grape stomping competition and free tastings of some wines from vineyards throughout the area.

July 27-28: Renaissance romance and masquerade weekend

Grab the best dresses and crowns and get ready for a romantic weekend. The festival said this weekend is dedicated to lovers.

There will be a “Vow Renewal” ceremony and a “Courtship” competition.

August 3-4: Time Traveler’s Weekend and the last huzzah

According to the festival, on the last weekend of the 2024 season there will be an epic celebration with a visit from the king.
