The Titans will host the NFC West team in joint practices in Nashville

The Tennessee Titans will host the Seattle Seahawks for joint practices on Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15. The Seahawks will travel to Nashville a few days early for two practices as they are scheduled to compete against the Titans in Week 2 of the preseason on August 17. The Titans announced that intention on Tuesday via the excellent Jim Wyatt.

The Titans had a habit of holding joint practices with competing teams throughout the Mike Vrabel era. They coached against the Buccaneers in 2018 and 2022, the Patriots in 2019 and the Cardinals in 2022. It’s great to see that new head coach Brian Callahan intends to continue this tradition.

With combined practices, the Seahawks should be a formidable opponent. In Week 16 of last season, they defeated the Titans 20-17. Seattle finished the 2023 campaign with a competitive record of 9–8 and barely missed the postseason.

Seattle has a new head coach in former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. Dennard Wilson, who was Macdonald’s defensive backs coach last season, is the Titans’ new defensive coordinator. This should lead to some interesting practice as both coordinators are intimately familiar with their respective schemes and systems.

This will be a great litmus test for second-year point guard Will Levis. He will attempt shots against a secondary that includes Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, Coby Bryant and Julian Love. The opposite is also true, as Seattle’s defense will be excited to play DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.

Tennessee’s new offensive line will also have its hands full. Seattle’s pass rushing group includes two elite interior players: Dre’Mont Jones and Leonard Williams. The Seahawks also used their first-round pick on former Texas Longhorns defensive end Byron Murphy II. In the first round for the Titans, JC Latham will face the likes of Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe and Derick Hall.

There will be plenty of entertainment at upcoming Titans-Seahawks practices.
