Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Willie “Tre” Herndon III headlined the list of players brought to the New York Giants minicamp for a tryout. Herndon was joined by tight ends Noah Togiai and Geor’quarius Spivey.

Last year at Duval County, he recorded 243 tackles, 32 pass breakups and three interceptions, including 46 knockdowns in 16 appearances. Herndon also turned up the pressure with a career-best three quarterback hits.

The Giants’ linebacker could use some experience, considering second-round rookie Tyler Nubin is currently on track to take the starting snaps at strong safety this time around. Herndon played primarily in Jacksonville, but has played in 34 games over the past six seasons.

Elsewhere, the Giants brought in two more potential names that could compete for tight ends. The first is Noah Togiai, a former two-sport athlete at Oregon State (in addition to his football duties, he briefly competed for the Beavers basketball team). He has made three appearances for the Philadelphia Eagles since entering the league as an undrafted free agent. agent in 2020

Togiai, 6-4, 244 pounds, was initially signed by the Colts after going undrafted in 2020. In four seasons, he appeared in four games, all with the Eagles, and had one pass that was incomplete.

The other tight end is Geor’quarius Spivey, 6-5, 240 pounds, who went undrafted this spring after five seasons between Mississippi State and TCU. In 52 games played in his college career, Spivey caught 28 passes for 298 yards and one touchdown.

New York currently has one roster spot open. In addition to the veteran trio, the Giants have reportedly met UFL star linebacker Jacob Saylors after his spring season at St. ended on Sunday. Louis Battlehawks.
