Taylor Berry Park sign vandalized by people outraged by name change from South Central Park | WDRB News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Some residents of Louisville’s Taylor Berry neighborhood are upset to learn that South Central Park has been renamed Taylor Berry Park.

The park, located on Colorado Avenue just west of Algonquin Parkway, was recently renamed. But earlier this week, someone vandalized the new sign, which had red letters representing the old name.

By Tuesday, the sign had been cleaned, but a small line of red paint was still visible on the side. One man at the park said Tuesday that children in the area felt slighted by the name change.

“They grew up here, so they feel like why change the name if it’s already made up. You know what I’m saying?” Joshua Stroud said.

Stroud said this isn’t the first time a sign with the old name has been vandalized.
