Renshoku Ramen closes indefinitely after disaster and fire

Renshoku Ramen, an Old Louisville ramen shop, is closed until further notice after its building was damaged in a fire caused by a car accident on Friday.

As previously reported by The Courier Journal, the restaurant opened last year at 1161 S. Second St., the former home of Barry’s Cheesesteaks. Before opening its location in Old Louisville, Renshoku Ramen operated primarily as a pop-up business.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman John Bradley said the fire started after a person driving at a high rate of speed hit a parked car and a tree around 6:30 p.m. The driver died at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.

“We are currently focused on supporting our employees and affected upstairs neighbors while we assess the total damage and clean up the restaurant,” owner Nicole Robey told The Courier Journal.
