Officials say an Austin woman was murdered in Kendall by an alleged drunk driver

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Blake Wampler was driving under the influence and hit another car head-on on FM 473 around 10:15 p.m.

KENDALIA, Texas – An Austin woman died in a head-on crash in Kendalia, Texas, late Saturday evening, authorities said. Now the man will be charged with causing an accident under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Blake Wampler was driving under the influence and hit another car head-on on FM 473 around 10:15 p.m.

The driver of the struck car, 56-year-old Kimberly Brasher, died at the scene.

KCSO says Wampler has been charged with DUI manslaughter. He was also found to be carrying a pistol, leading to an additional charge of unlawful possession of a weapon. He was still in custody on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, Brasher’s friends say she was a beloved community member who currently lived in Austin and was originally from Arkansas.

“She was kind and generous and gave a bright light to everyone around her. I just saw her in concert in March. I am shocked and very saddened to learn of her death. My heart goes out to her children,” Cary, Basher’s friend, Cooper said in a statement.
