Obituary of Robert Leo Pope – Florida Times-Union

Bobby (Robert) Leo Pope died peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 6, 2024, surrounded by his wife and son. He was 94 years old.

Robert was born on December 6, 1929 in Dudley, Georgia. He graduated from Lanier Boys’ High School. In the years 1951-1953 he served in the army as a corporal. While in the army, he completed correspondence courses preparing for work at JC Penney in St. Louis, Missouri. Work took him to Columbus GA, Brunswick GA and finally to West Palm Beach, FL where he met Jacqueline (Sistie) Robson who became his wife for 65 years.

His attention turned to the fabric retail business, where he eventually owned five fabric stores in Jacksonville, Florida, which became his home for 61 years. He then opened a commercial real estate company and traveled to his office until the time of his death.

Robert is survived by his wife Sistie Pope, son Bob Pope Jr., daughter-in-law Zhongli Wang, grandson Jack Pope, cousins ​​Wallace Miller (wife Shirley) and Peggy Killingsworth.

He was predeceased by his mother Allie Daniel, father Hardie Pope, stepfather Pringle Daniel and sister Betty Glore.

Funeral services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205, on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., funeral at 12:00 p.m., and burial at 1:00 p.m. :00. The family will be there to greet friends and relatives.
