Obituary of Charles Franklin “Frank” Bates

Charles Franklin “Frank” Bates of Louisville, Kentucky, died on June 9, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born August 25, 1950 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of the late Mary Edna and Charles Bates. Frank earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University. He enjoyed working in the garden, collecting records, baking bread and going to sales. He retired from Richelieu Hardware after 34 years in the cabinetry industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Leiter.

Frank leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Deborah Bates; son Forrest Bates (Vicky) and daughter Marianne Rader (Tim). Seven grandchildren; Josiah, Benjamin and James Bates of Bowling Green, Ohio. Tegan Rader, Maya Ferry (Reece), Tayden and Micah Rader of Corydon, Indiana. Two great-grandchildren: Melaina and Tarik Rader.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40299. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 14:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be sent to Wayside Christian Mission, 432 E Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202.
