This is the second year in a row that Nill has received the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year award. The only other consecutive winner was Lou Lamoriello of the New York Islanders in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

“Earning this award for two consecutive seasons is a testament to the work Jim and his entire staff have done over the last decade,” said Dallas Stars owner and governor Tom Gaglardi. “Year after year, he continues to position our franchise to compete for championships with his drafting, development and talent acquisition expertise. Together, we will continue to pursue our goal of winning another Stanley Cup for Dallas.”

The 2023–24 season was Nill’s eleventh season as general manager. This season, it was also the second time in a row that our team advanced to the Western Conference Finals. The Stars finished the regular season with 113 points and a record of 52-21-9.

So far, under Nilla’s leadership, the Stars have achieved a record of 455-301-107 and reached the Stanley Cup playoffs seven times.

The Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award recognizes the work of the NHL’s top general manager. Although Nill won the award twice, he was nominated three times.

According to the Associated Press, Vancouver’s Patrik Allvin was the runner-up this year and Florida’s Bill Zito was third after building a team that reached the Stanley Cup Final two years in a row.
