heat and humidity will produce potential for severe storms through the end of the week – NBC Boston

As has been the case over the past few days, variable clouds and a few showers are forecast for Tuesday – although many will remain dry. Sea breezes are also returning, keeping coastal areas cooler at around 70 degrees.

On Wednesday, the temperature will rise slightly and the risk of precipitation will be low. The rain drops we avoid on Wednesday won’t ruin your day or force you to cancel your outdoor plans.

Storm time

Warmer air will move in Thursday as humidity increases, but not until later in the day. It looks like a great day at the beach with a nice breeze and temperatures in the 80s.

Meanwhile, we continue to watch the timing of the cold front on Friday and the potential for stronger storms, due in part to upper winds and high humidity near the ground. The most likely time for this line of storms to occur is between noon and early evening.

We have issued the first alert for this threat, so stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

Heat wave on the horizon?

Looking further, there are signs that next week could be even worse. A large area of high pressure is expected to descend over the East Coast, causing hot and humid conditions.

Highs could reach the 90s along with sticky humidity, though it’s still unclear how hot we’ll get and how long it will last.
