The Columbus Crew midfielder just got a boost when the club announced the signing of Dylan Chambost from AS Saint-Etienne on Tuesday morning. Sources confirmed Huge report on Monday that the move had taken place. Chambost will take a spot on the international roster pending receipt of an international transfer certificate and P-1 visa. He will be available for selection when the second MLS transfer window opens on July 18. The Frenchman’s contract will be valid until 2026 with a club option in 2027.

Chambost helped Saint-Etienne regain promotion to Ligue 1 in France, playing every minute of the play-off series.

Chambost, a product of France’s youth academy, scored 20 goals in 74 games for Saint-Etienne B between 2016 and 2019. He then made his debut for Saint-Etienne in 2018 against Troyes in the Coupe de France.

In 2019, Chambost then joined Troyes, who played in Ligue 2, helping his team climb to the top of the table in the 2020-21 season and gain promotion to Ligue 1. Chambost appeared in a total of 70 matches before returning to Saint-Etienne .

“Dylan is an experienced and versatile player who has the technical and tactical skills that will fit our style of play,” said general manager Issa Tall.

“We are pleased to add a player of his caliber and skill set to our squad, who fits the specific profile we have identified with (head coach) Wilfried Nancy. Dylan gained valuable experience in important matches, including: twice helping his team gain promotion to Ligue 1. We look forward to Dylan joining us in Columbus and integrating into our team once the transfer window opens.

Chambost joins a talented midfield corps that includes captain Darlington Nagbe, academy products Sean Zawadzki and Aidan Morris, Derrick Jones and Crew 2 graduates Taha Habroune and Cole Mrówka.

The Columbus Crew returns to action on Friday night as they travel to New York to take on New York City FC. Kickoff at Yankee Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST. You can watch the match as part of the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
