Charlotte suspected of armed robbery, police arrested

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that led to a police chase has been arrested, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Shortly after noon, CMPD’s Real Time Crime Center located the vehicle of a suspect who had just committed an armed robbery at 5700 North Graham Street.


The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the perpetrator fled, starting a pursuit.

At approximately 12:16 p.m., the suspect collided with a third-party vehicle at Hoskins Road and Rozzelles Ferry Road.

Despite the accident, the suspect did not stop and continued to elude officers.

The chase ended minutes later and the suspect was apprehended at I-85 and Brookshire Boulevard.

Suspect Robert Vaughn, 44, faces charges including:

  • Armed robbery
  • Crime Run to escape
  • Crime Hit and Run

Vaughn was also wanted on several warrants, including possession of a firearm by a felon.

The occupant of the vehicle that the suspect hit was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
