Austin was ranked ninth among the best cities to live in the U.S. for 2024-2025

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin is among the 10 best cities to live in the U.S., according to U.S. News & World Report.

The list ranked the 150 best places to live in the U.S. for 2024-2025, and Austin – the fourth-largest city in Texas – came in at No. 9 for its laid-back atmosphere, outdoor activities, live music scene and opportunities educational and professional.

“Under the slogan ‘Keep Austin Weird,’ this Texas town is laid back to the point that if you dress up, it must be a life event. People here enjoy spending time outdoors, and even more with their dogs. “Austin is infectious with energy and enthusiasm,” we read in the report.

Austin received an overall score of 6.8 out of 10, a quality of life score of 6.8 and a 6.3 for value.

Looking across the state, Austin ranks as the number one city to live in Texas.

Other Texas cities that made the list include McAllen (48), El Paso (62), Corpus Christi (77), Brownsville (87), San Antonio (89), Dallas (95), Houston (97), Beaumont (99) and Killeen (107).

U.S. News & World Report ranked each city based on four indicators: quality of life, value, attractiveness and labor market.
