APD identifies woman killed in shooting at northeast Austin Waffle House

Police have identified the woman who was killed in a shooting at a Waffle House in northeast Austin early Saturday morning.

Tykeisha Lewis, 25, died after being shot in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 12304 Dessau Road on June 8 around 6 a.m. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to the Austin Police Department, the shooting occurred after an argument between the group Lewis was with and another group of men in the parking lot. The suspects opened fire, striking Lewis and another woman. The second victim was also taken to hospital and his condition is stable.

After the shooting, the male suspect fled the scene. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the APD Homicide Hotline at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.

There is a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

This shooting is being investigated as Austin’s 25th homicide of 2024.
