The MPD operation is targeting crime in the South Memphis neighborhood

Memphis Police said “Operation All Off Boyd” targeted the Boyd St. area on Friday, June 7, 2024. and Tate Ave.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis police say more than a dozen people have been arrested following an operation targeting crime in a South Memphis neighborhood.

MPD officials held a news conference Tuesday about the joint operation between the department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and the Shelby County District Attorney General (SCDAG). ).

MPD stated that on Friday, June 7, 2024, “Operation All Off Boyd” targeted the Boyd St. area. and Tate Ave. More than 140 law enforcement officers responded to the area and arrested 11 people on felony charges and one person on a misdemeanor charge. They said most of those arrested had warrants or were persons of interest in other cases.

Those arrested for crimes include:

  • Tallas Riddle, 24
  • Jerrico Carwell, 21
  • Myquon Woodley, 24
  • Dekorian McDaniel, 27
  • Perry Richardson, 52
  • Jakub Pol, 40
  • Mark Humphrey, 22 years old
  • Tamika Jonnson, 43 years old
  • Alex Brown, 25
  • Trane Carter, 22

MPD released a short video showing body camera footage from the operation.

MPD said investigators seized 13 handguns, two of which were stolen, two rifles weighing 3.7 pounds. marijuana, 249 ecstasy pills, two vehicles and $4,291 in cash. They said some of the guns had Glock switches and extended magazines. Investigators are testing the weapon to determine whether it could have been used in other known crimes.

MPD Chief CJ Davis said those arrested were “terrorizing” neighbors in the area. She said a plan would be implemented in the area to try to prevent crime from getting out of control in the future.

MPD said the effort was similar to but more targeted than “Operation Code Zero,” which targets specific high-crime areas by increasing traffic stops and warrant executions.

Memphis police say these latest actions may result in more arrests.
