Four months after completing its purchase of Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets, Aldi is converting its first store in Northeast Florida into a branded store.

The city is considering construction plans to convert the Harveys store at 2261 Edgewood Ave. W. in northeast Jacksonville into a 21,839-square-foot Aldi store at an estimated cost of $1.7 million.

Harveys operated in 46,189 square feet. Aldi stores are smaller than Harveys and Winn-Dixie supermarkets.
