West Seattle Blog… | VIDEO: Bald Eagle Gets Support from Lincoln Park Boundaries

A happier story from the shore: Jess I sent videos and report:

A friend and I were paddle boarding in Lincoln Park near Colman Pool when we saw a repeated splashing in the middle of the bay near the Driftwood sculptures. After watching for a while, we noticed a bald eagle stuck in the water, being attacked by seagulls. We put the paddles into high gear and ran to see what we could do to help. When we got there, the seagulls had given the eagle a rest and we were able to steer it toward shore, as it was fighting in circles away from shore. I was able to gently slide the paddle under it and lift it enough to climb onto one of our boards as we paddled closer to shore.

Still clearly scared, he jumped away as we approached the display and swam the rest of the way to shore. We tried to make sure everyone gave him space as he dried off enough to fly into the forest to dry off completely before returning to his perch high above Headland Colman Pool.
