New York Greek restaurant opens in Dallas.

Avry, a 14,000-square-foot upscale seafood restaurant set to open in New York City’s Uptown’s The Crescent, is set to open next spring, according to a release Dallas Morning News. The concept was co-founded by Nick Tsoulos, who grew up in Greece. He tells DMN that Avra ​​serves the food he grew up eating, but in an upscale setting. Opened in 2000, Avra ​​has expanded to New York, Beverley Hills and Miami.

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, and its New York-style menu includes appetizers such as salads, sashimi and classic Greek dishes such as spanakopita, halloumi and souvlaki.

Reservations for DFW Restaurant Week in August are now open.

The annual DFW Restaurant Week (benefiting the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope) returns in August. Reservations are now open, so you can grab a table at your favorite Dallas restaurants from August 5-11, with additional dining through September 1 (that’s always more than a “week”). And Preview Week begins August 1.

Dining options include a three-course set menu for $49 or $59, a $99 dinner special, a two-course lunch for $29 and a weekend brunch for $29. Participating restaurants include El Carlos Elegante, Aguasal (in Rye), Beverley’s, Knife and more.

Austin chef opens new 24-hour restaurant in Deep Ellum this summer.

Chef Michael Carranza of Tare Austin is opening a new coffee shop and beer restaurant concept called Kanpai Coffee + Beer Garden, according to Culture Map. The space will be housed in the former Mama Tried space and will feature Noble Coyote coffee and an Asian-inspired menu (like buns). CM notes that Carranza is working with SMU alum Bonham White and Harry Huynh to bring the space to life. The space will be open in the mornings and will transform into a beer garden with cocktails in the evenings. There’s a backyard for al fresco drinks and snacks.
