The Columbus Food Truck Festival is coming to Franklinton this weekend

After three years at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard, the Columbus Food Truck Festival returns to downtown — or at least the surrounding area — this weekend.

The 13th annual Ohio Food Truck Show will be held Friday and Saturday in Franklinton and will feature 47 food trucks and carts from Columbus and other parts of the state.

The food, music, and other attractions haven’t left Hilliard for good, though. A one-day sequel to this weekend festival is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the fairgrounds. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening Friday and Saturday.

Details, please!

The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the Scioto Peninsula. Admission is free, but food and drinks are not.

The food isn’t the only attraction. There are two stages, with 17 bands playing both days. Friday night’s headliner, scheduled for 7:15-8:45 p.m. on the main stage, will be ’90s rap cover band Winnie Cooper Project. Saturday night’s headliner, scheduled for the same time on the same stage, will be neo-funk band MojoFlo. The full lineup can be found at columbusfoodtruckfest.com.

The Rich Street Bridge also features a children’s play area, arts and crafts stalls, and the Columbus Vintage Exchange, where you can buy vintage clothing, toys, vinyl records, and more.

You can bring chairs, blankets and tents that we will set up on the festival grounds, but you cannot bring coolers.

What kind of food can I get?

A better question is what kind of food jargon get it? Answer: No one seems to be serving Icelandic cuisine this weekend.

However, the 47 food trucks on the list will serve (in alphabetical order, but not exhaustive): alligator cutlets, baba ghanoush, Bahama Mamas, banh mi, birria, bratwurst, brisket, bulgogi, burgers, burritos, catfish, cheese steaks, chicken tikka masala, crab rangoon, crunchwraps, spring rolls, empanadas, falafel, fish tacos, fries, fried pork cutlet sandwiches, fried rice, grilled cheese, gyros, hibachi, jerk chicken, jollof rice, jumbo shrimp, Loaded Tots, lobster rolls, macaroni and cheese, nachos, dumplings, pakora, pizza, pulled pork, quesadillas, ribs, samosas, shawarma, Spam musubi, stuffed pretzels, sub sandwiches, tacos, shrimp in tempura batter, turkey legs, wings and wraps.

You voted: The fries at Marlow’s Cheesesteaks, with or without Cheez Whiz, were voted the best in Columbus

If you have a sweet tooth, you can try cheesecakes, cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts, funnel cakes, ice cream, macaroons, and popsicles.

Where will the food trucks be parked?

The Scioto Peninsula is located south of COSI on the Franklinton side of the Scioto River. Trucks will be parked along Town Street, Belle Street and Washington Boulevard.

For a full list of locations, visit columbusfoodtruckfest.com.

Where can I park?

Parking on the Franklinton side of the river is your best bet unless you’re willing to walk a short distance from downtown. You can pay in advance to reserve a spot in the city’s parking garages by clicking the link on the festival website. There are also a few private garages around Broad Street and south toward COSI and the Junto Hotel.

Summer fun: The calendar features a variety of summer festivals in central Ohio

On Friday and Saturday, be sure to look for nearby kiosks or signs with QR codes to pay for street parking.

Does the weather forecast predict rain on any day?

Friday is looking good. The National Weather Service says it will be sunny all day, with a high of 89 degrees.

Bring your sunglasses for Saturday, as the weather forecast calls for all-day sunshine with a high near 91 degrees.
