JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WSVN) – The 2024 AAU Club and Grade School Track and Field Championships took place in Jacksonville over the weekend, showcasing some of the country’s most talented young athletes.

Notable participants included South Florida native Rayford Shipman IV, who broke the national record in the 100-meter dash at age 7.

The young athlete and his coach celebrated his achievement in an Instagram post.

“National record, Ray. How are you feeling?” the coach asked in the video. “Good,” said Shipman IV, who was seen smiling as he sat on the coach’s back.

“All that hard work we’ve been putting in, it’s for Dad. I told you,” the coach replied.

The event has a rich history of featuring future Olympic stars, including alumni such as Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles and the latest sensation, Quincy Wilson, who will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
