Shots fired after robbery at gas station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Surveillance video captured a driver being robbed at a southwest Memphis gas station Sunday evening.

According to police, the robbery and attempted carjacking occurred at the Chevron gas station on East Shelby Drive just after 9:30 p.m.

The video shows a man holding a gun and running up to the driver, who was returning to his car after putting something inside the Chevron.

The suspect also attempts to search the victim’s pockets. The victim then pulls out a gun. It is difficult to determine if the bullets hit anyone, but both the suspect and the victim exchanged gunfire.

“It scares me. It’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Sherika Johnson, a gas station customer. “I’m glad he was careful and had protection, but no one should live like this.”

The suspect returned to a silver Chevrolet Impala that had two other men inside.

No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
