Most of the victims of the Detroit mass shooting have now been released from the hospital.

Eleven victims of Sunday’s mass shooting have been released from hospital, while eight others remain under treatment.

Eight victims from Detroit, Clinton Township and Warren remain hospitalized, and 11 have been released, Detroit police said in a statement Wednesday. Those out of the hospital are from Clinton Township, Detroit, Eastpointe, Taylor, Southfield and Warren.

Two people were killed in a shooting that occurred Sunday at a street party on Detroit’s east side, near Reno Street and Rossini Drive.

No arrests have been made in the case, police said in a statement. Police are still reviewing forensic evidence, they said. The incident involved multiple shooters, police said. Nine weapons and 100 shell casings were recovered at the scene.

Evidence so far suggests the incident was not a random shooting, police said in a statement.

The party, which spanned multiple homes, was an unsanctioned and illegal street party, Detroit Police Chief James White previously said.

Over the July 4 weekend, police responded to six shootings at street parties, leaving 27 victims, including three dead.

In response, Detroit police have formed a Neighborhood Response Team to focus on illegal street parties. The team, which will consist of 80 officers, will focus on compliance and enforcement of street party laws.

The community held a meeting Wednesday night to condemn the surge in violence over the Fourth of July weekend and call for a “village” to right the wrongs. Detroit City Council Speaker Mary Sheffield told dozens of people that policies and policing alone won’t stop the violence, but that root causes of crime, such as mental health and poverty, must be addressed.

“Let’s reject the notion that guns and violence are an acceptable part of our culture. Let’s demand that we value life over reputation,” Sheffield said.
