Memphis basketball adds Arkansas State to 2024-25 schedule

The Memphis basketball team will host Arkansas State on December 8 at FedExForum.

The Red Wolves announced the matchup in Post X on Wednesday afternoon. It will be the 18th meeting between the two teams, with Memphis having won 13 of the first 17.

In the last game of 2020, Memphis won 83-54 at FedExForum. Arkansas State has not defeated Memphis since winning in Jonesboro in 1999.

The Tigers’ non-conference schedule is nearly complete. Memphis will play three games in the Maui Invitational (Nov. 25-27) against teams that include Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan State, Auburn, Iowa State, Dayton and two-time defending national champion UConn. The Tigers will play away games against Virginia, UNLV and Clemson and a neutral-site match against San Francisco at the Chase Center.

Memphis will also host Missouri and Mississippi State.

The Tigers are hoping to return to the NCAA Tournament after a disappointing 2023-24 season in which Memphis was ranked 10th in the country but faltered in the second half of the season. Coach Penny Hardaway completely rebuilt the roster, with forward Nicolas Jourdain the only scholarship player returning.

There will be plenty of new faces, though, including Tulsa player PJ Haggerty, Texas player Tyrese Hunter, and Illinois player Dain Dainja.
