Man Stabbed in Baltimore, Suspect Arrested

Baltimore, Maryland – A 63-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing incident on Grantley Avenue on Monday evening.

On July 8, at approximately 7:46 p.m., Northern District patrol officers responded to the 2900 block of Grantley Avenue on a report of a slashing. Upon arrival, they found a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his arm. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect, who was still at the scene, was detained by officers. Investigators determined that a verbal argument between the two men escalated, prompting the suspect to pull out a knife and slash the victim. The suspect was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged.

  • DC burglar strikes twice in an hour

    Washington – Two businesses in the Northwest district were burglarized in the early hours of Friday, July 5. Police are now asking the community for help in identifying the suspect.

    At approximately 3:55 a.m., the suspect forced entry into a residence in the 3100 block of Mt. Pleasant Street, Northwest and fled with stolen property. Approximately 45 minutes later, the same suspect broke into another residence in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest, again fleeing with stolen property.

    Surveillance cameras captured the image of the suspect.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for crimes committed in the District of Columbia.

  • Utility worker dies after electrocution in Montgomery County

    Washington – A utility worker was electrocuted in Montgomery County, resulting in a tragic death. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers found the woman unconscious with a fallen tree on her head upon arrival. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Witnesses, including Nodar Shovnadze, told DC News Now about the incident. Shovnadze, who was nearby, described hearing a branch snap and seeing a woman walking her dog trying to escape the falling tree. Despite immediate efforts by Shovnadze and others, they were unable to lift the branch and save her.

    The fire department conducted a thorough search of the area but found no other victims. On Wednesday afternoon, several arborists from the District Department of Transportation were investigating the cause of the fallen branch. Tree removal companies were on site to remove the remaining parts of the tree.

    DDOT urban forestry experts noted the tree was in good condition before the incident and was inspected in the spring of 2022 and trimmed in the summer of that same year. The tree is believed to have been growing in Garfield Park for nearly a century.

    Neighbors expressed their sadness, describing the Capitol Hill community as very close-knit, with residents frequently stopping by to chat and connect.
