Los Angeles Clippers officially sign former Dallas Mavericks player

Derrick Jones Jr. was a productive reserve player for eight seasons in the NBA.

He had the best year of his career (with the Dallas Mavericks), averaging 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 48.3% from the field and 34.3% from three in 76 games (66 of which were as a starter).

This summer, Jones Jr. became a free agent and officially signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jones Jr. also helped the Mavericks reach the NBA Finals (appearing in all 22 playoff games).

As we saw firsthand in the playoffs against Dallas, he can change games with his reach and activity. We’re going to have a tenacious defense this season, and DJJ will be a huge part of that.”

The Clippers have a talented roster led by James Harden and Kawhi Leonard (they lost Paul George joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason.)

Last year they finished fourth in the Western Conference with a record of 51-31.

However, the Clippers lost to the Mavs in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).

Jones Jr. also played for the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns.
