Copa America Brings Excitement to Latin Community Nightclub

SOUTH END, CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – More than 70,000 fans packed the Bank of America Stadium as Colombia took on Uruguay in the semi-finals of the Copa America.

However, the spectacle attracted large crowds to nearby restaurants and bars, including the Zona Rosa.

This nightclub/bar is located in a corner of the South End and describes itself as being created by the Latino community for the Latino community.

Owner Gill Cedillo told Queen City News he “would like to believe that someone will finally listen to them.”

His place was already halfway through the Colombia-Panama match.

On Wednesday at 8pm the stadium was packed with fans waiting for a match unlike any other and played in a unique atmosphere.

One customer said he chose this location specifically because of its ties to the Latino community.

Dulce Arroyo explained, “There is no place where Latino people can gather, especially at soccer games, but in general, it is about the Latin American community.”

Cedillo shared this view.

He and other Zona Rosa event attendees explained that they had a hard time finding venues, restaurants and bars that reflected and highlighted Latino culture, even in a family context.

Cedillo said, “I think it’s a great opportunity for the city to continue to showcase what the Latino community can do. Especially in the sports that we love supporting.”
