Charlotte shooting at woman’s home leaves one dead, others injured – Queen City News

CHARLOTTA (NEWS FROM THE QUEEN’S CITY) — One of the victims of a fatal accidental shooting said she feared for herself and her family as they left their home.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say each of the five shootings was random and none of the victims knew the shooter.

Police are still trying to find the shooter, who was rampant in the city, shooting at drivers, cyclists and random homes.

CMPD released information about the shooting on Tuesday along with a warning.

The deputy police chief told people that until they are arrested it is best to stay home late at night or early in the morning unless absolutely necessary.

There are bullet holes everywhere, but one went straight through the wall where Leticia Sandoval Juarez’s daughter was sleeping.

“A lot of fear, a lot of fear. It’s very disturbing. We’re lucky to be alive. All of us. The four who survived, we were worried they were killed,” Sandoval Juarez said.

On Tuesday morning, just before 1:30 a.m., she was woken by gunshots.

Several bullets flew into her room, just above the bed.

She says one of those bullets should have killed her family, but God protected them.

“Because the bullets that landed in this apartment, one of those bullets should have killed one of us. But God is with (protected us).”

Sandoval Juarez and her family are the latest victims of a shooting spree in Charlotte early Tuesday morning that began with the murder of 58-year-old Mustaffa Muhammad.

CMPD says Muhammad was driving on Statesville Avenue when a stranger shot at his car, killing him.

Police say the shooter drove around the city, shooting at cyclists and homes, without caring who he hit and firing for no apparent reason.

“We’re just scared. We’re terrified and we hope it doesn’t happen again. It’s dangerous,” Sandoval Juarez said.

CMPD’s deputy chief believes all of the shootings that occurred between 1:00 and 1:30 a.m. Tuesday are related and were all random in nature.

CMPD is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information about the shooting.
