Car thieves take woman’s van at Memphis gas station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in an armed carjacking that happened in Whitehaven on July 1st.

Police said that at 6:17 a.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to Mapco at 979 East Brooks Road where a Ford E350 pickup truck had been stolen from a woman at gunpoint.

The victim told police that when she wanted to refuel, a black sedan stopped in front of her and an armed passenger got out.

The thief demanded her keys at gunpoint. Police say she complied, and the suspect got into a van and drove away, followed by a black sedan.

The theft was recorded on surveillance footage.

MPD did not provide details about the suspects.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
