Austin, Miami keep F1 sprint races for 2025 as Belgium replaces Austria

LONDON (AP) — Miami and Austin, Texas, will keep their Formula One sprint races next year because Belgium, not Austria, will be the sprinter.

The number of sprint races on the 24-race Formula 1 calendar stands at six for the third year in a row.

Joining the Circuit of the Americas in Austin and the Miami street circuit is the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps circuit, which is the only sprint race venue in 2025 that will not host a sprint this year, despite having one in 2023.

This will be the sprint race’s third year in Austin and its second in Miami.

The remaining three sprints in 2025 will be held for the fifth consecutive time in Brazil, as well as in China and Qatar.

Formula 1 has changed its weekend schedule for this year, moving the sprint race to the earlier Saturdays, ahead of Grand Prix qualifying.
