11 Detroit party shooting victims released from hospital, 8 others in stable condition

(CBS DETROIT) – Detroit Police Department provides update on 19 people injured in crash deadly shooting at street party over weekend.

The shooting occurred July 7 in the area of ​​Rossini Drive and Reno Street on the city’s east side. Two people were killed.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and no one has been arrested yet. The shooting does not appear to be random, police said. Investigators recovered nine guns and more than 100 shell casings at the scene.

In an update Wednesday, police said 11 of the victims have been released from the hospital and eight other victims are in stable condition and still receiving treatment. The victims range in age from 17 to 25 and are from Clinton Township, Detroit, Eastpointe, Oak Park Southfield and Warren.

The city authorities stated that that since July 4, there have been shootings at six illegal street parties. In response to the increase in violence at these neighborhood parties, Detroit police have formed a Neighborhood Response Team. The team will focus on compliance and law enforcement and will prioritize 911 calls about illegal street parties. The team will consist of 80 officers who will be responsible for finding illegal street parties, issuing warnings and shutting down the parties if necessary.
