Conor Daly Leads Indy for Hunt

Conor Daly will make his first NASCAR Xfinity Series appearance of the year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Sam Hunt Racing, SHR announced on July 10.

Daly will drive the No. 26 car sponsored by Polkadot.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring Polkadot back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this time with Sam Hunt Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” Daly said in a team release. “When I heard the NASCAR Xfinity Series was coming back to the Indianapolis oval, I knew I had to be a part of it.

“Driving for Polkadot at my home track in front of my hometown fans is an incredible honor and an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I know the opportunity to drive for Toyota and SHR is incredibly special and I can’t wait to take on this learning experience and give my all for this group. I’m proud and happy to be representing Polkadot at IMS for both the Indy 500 and NASCAR Brickyard Weekend in the same year.”

“It’s always exciting for me when drivers come to NASCAR from other professional motorsports,” added team owner Sam Hunt. “Conor is a seasoned racer, a favorite at Indianapolis, and a guy who understands how the sport works from top to bottom. It’s a pleasure to give him the opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and I know everyone is excited about it.”

“The challenge will be big, and there’s so much to learn in such a short space of time – but Conor and the Sam Hunt Racing team are excited to tackle it with open minds and at full speed. We’re all grateful to have Polkadot on board for this special weekend, and we can’t wait to bring another great brand into the Sam Hunt Racing family.”

Daly has two Xfinity stars coming to Indianapolis, including one last year for Joey Gase Motorsports. His best finish was 31st in 2018.

Daly revealed earlier this week that he will compete in three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races for Niece Motorsports in 2024.

In May, he finished 10th in the Indianapolis 500.
