Man shot in the arm while trying to steal beer from a gas station in Nashville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was shot in the arm Saturday night while trying to steal two cases of beer from a gas station convenience store.

Metro Police said officers from the Hermitage Precinct responded to reports of a shooting at the Shell gas station located at 1500 Lebanon Pike around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man – shot in the forearm – walking down the street.

The officers tried to talk to him, but he tried to run away. According to investigators, he was eventually arrested and taken to a hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wound.

Police said a gas station employee told detectives that the man who was shot was trying to steal two cases of beer with another man, prompting the employee to follow the two men into the parking lot to try to retrieve the beer. That’s when the men allegedly attacked the employee, prompting the customer to try to intervene.

The customer reportedly had a gun and was tired enough to hit the 26-year-old man with it. According to police, the gun then discharged and hit the 26-year-old man in the arm. The customer with the gun then left the store.

Police found a second, 33-year-old man, walking down the street. He had two outstanding arrest warrants for burglary and was arrested on them.

No other information has been released.
