Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban says his email was hacked

After more than a decade of being the top pick for the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban has sold his majority stake in the team. Now Cuban, a minority owner, can relax and enjoy the Mavericks’ season after missing the NBA Finals and losing to the Boston Celtics in five games.

It hasn’t been an amazing start to the offseason for Cuban, though, and not because of anything Mavericks-related that he can now enjoy from a fan perspective (although the value of the franchise as a minority owner is something I’ll point out), because on Saturday, he was hacked e-mail.

“My [email protected] address just got hacked because someone named Noah called me from your number 650-203-0000 and told me I had an intruder and rigged Google’s recovery methods,” Cuban wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in an already deleted post. “If anyone gets anything from [email protected] after 3:30 PM ET, it won’t be me.”

Cuban claims that he did not click on any links or provide any information, while losing access to his email account, which is quite important for a billionaire entrepreneur.

Cuban bought the organization in 2000 and then sold his majority stake in November 2023. During this period, he played a strategic role in the moves that took the team to multiple appearances in the NBA Finals and even an NBA title in 2011 under Dirk’s leadership Nowitzki.

Now, under new ownership, the team is looking to build around Luka Doncic in the same way it did with Nowitzki in order to finally get over the hump and win the second NBA title in franchise history.

Cuban will be able to watch from the sidelines and enjoy a Mavericks performance with Doncic at the helm, Kyrie Irving and a strong lineup built around him if he can get an update via email.
