Princess Charlotte was in a different mood during Trooping the Color

While most people watched Trooping the Color to see Kate Middleton after her shocking health news earlier this year (Sorry, King Charles III – this parade may be about you, but it’s all about your daughter-in-law), I couldn’t wait to see your lovely children. In my humble opinion, 10-year-old Prince George, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte and 6-year-old Prince Louis are always the main attraction when members of the royal family step onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Of course, everyone was excited to see if Prince Louis would stick to his usual antics and look completely bored or completely pissed off (or it’s an understandable combination), but instead we were stunned by the interactions between him and his older sister. In videos recorded and shared by multiple media outlets, Princess Charlotte appeared to tell her younger brother to stop dancing to the music.

Which is quite surprising considering how amused she usually is by him and his wild behavior. The two also seemed to have a hot look down (see below), but on previous royal outings – whether the other Trooping the Colors, the annual family Christmas service, or their grandfather’s coronation – she seemed to enjoy it.

Trooping the Color is a ceremonial parade celebrating the official birthday of the British monarch. More than 1,400 soldiers and officers accompanied by 200 horses take part in the event. She was often seen giggling at him or showing the public that she was not afraid to stand up for him. So what happened this year? Hard to say. Maybe the stares were just due to poor camera timing. Or maybe she just didn’t give a damn that day. Perhaps they were in the middle of a sibling argument when it was time to leave for the annual parade celebrating the monarch’s birthday. Was there a royal spat that caused this change of heart?

Charles will be the 40th reigning monarch to be crowned in a central London church since King William I in 1066. In addition to Britain, he is also king of 14 other Commonwealth countries, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Camilla, his second wife, was crowned queen with him. Maybe she was just trying to teach him more about royal protocol. Or maybe she wanted to give her mother – who usually manages Prince Louis – a break from the tasks that usually get her hot. Whatever the reason, we hope this change in vibration doesn’t signal a major change in their relationship. We hope it was just one of those days.

Before you go, check every time Prince Louis had his big sister in his corner.
